Re: sony hdr-hc3 wont charge

Could it just be a dead battery which no longer takes a charge?

Sorry to hear that.
Batteries do die and then don't take charge anymore . This is the most common cause of the problem

Is it that the battery is not being charged or that the camera wont work off a charged battery?

It may be that the cameras ability to work off battery has been compromised ( hat need s fixing)
or
It cannot charge a battery. ( You may need an off camera charger)

Re: sony hdr-hc3 wont charge

I think it is most likely that the camera is not working off a charged battery.
I expect that the new battery came with some charge in it and yet as soon as you pull out the mains cable the camera goes dead.
i will contact sony on monday.
bit of a bummer though.
