Still undecided...

I'm still undecided what camcorder to go with around the £500 mark.

Was looking at the Canon HF100 (although that seems to have gone back out of stock on the Dixons company websites so would be a store hunt again) and also at the Sanyo HD2000. HF10/HF11 seem to be hard to find/way too expensive considering age.

I'm just thinking that even though I like the idea of recording in as high a resolution as possible, I'm still going to be viewing these, certainly in the immediate time period, on a standard DVD so would be downsampling to DVD rates and 25fps anyway. I know I'd still have the higher res footage for future in this case but wondering whether DVD would 'be enough'...?

Anyway, could anyone recommend a good spec standard resolution camera as possible alternative/additional choice etc.? What about a well featured 720p 50fps camera?

Also, I'm coming from a Sony TR315 Hi 8 camera here (which I finally got around to 'digitising' in a few tapes to my PC) so anything up from this quality wise is going to be better... Haven't recorded anything for a few years so want to get something to not miss anything else...

Thanks...
