canon mv880 minidv. help.

please can anyone tell us how to, if its possible , to transfer the footage of the tape to a computer either directly or indirectly, sorry iof thi turns out to be simple one, we have no manual.

Hi the only way is to use a firewire connection you need to check if your pc has this.To do this right click on my computer then properties then Hardware then device manager now check if it has anything resembling IEEE1394 in the list.If so and there is no yellow mark beside it then all you need is afirewire cable .You will already (if you have XP) have windows movie maker and you can use that to capture your footage .If you dont have firewire installed then you need to get a card and install it not expensive and often comes with a cable.Come back with your findings
