Software Player for Sony HDR TG3
I've lost my original CD and would simply like to download the video files from the card on my Sony HDR TG3 to my PC and play them. No editing!
Is there a simple player for this that I can download - don't mind paying something reasonable but basically just want to play the files.
Thanks.

Re: Software Player for Sony HDR TG3
You can simply copy the files if you have a Card reader.. no software required.
For Playback if you have a playback codec on your system VLC will play the files , even WMP.
Orherwise Nero Visions latter versions can play h.264 as can any media player which has "avchd " support

Re: Software Player for Sony HDR TG3
Many thanks.
I have Vista 64 - and VLC is it likely that I'll already have the codec or do I need to look for one?
I've just tried playing it with VLC but it's very juddery and unwathcable. Must be doing something wrong!

I did read the specs , earlier , Hence the "I wonder.."
That said for AVCHD Editing or playback Idont imagine you can ( at present) be " overpwered"
Still a codec is needed.. to ease load off the sheer processor power
Want to gve THIS a go?
Some swear by it , It did not agree with my system but it may jst be what you need
I found that instaly Nero ( ful version) also installed a decent h.264 codec which even VLC can access

Re: Software Player for Sony HDR TG3
Many thanks.
Super didn't appear to improve the speed of play. I retried all the other players including WMP and VLC but none of them seemed to benefit from any new codec that may have turned up.
As an ex-Nero user I was alarmed to see the number of anti-Nero people posting compared to those pro. I looked at Amazon where I tend to buy this stuff and where a virgin no restriction CD/DVD version in a box is less than a download upgrade version from the Nero site. As all I want is a player, not editing or back-up or anything else - the rather bloated and cpu disabling Nero - and price - wasn't an attractive risk. I just wnat to play my fils without conncecting the whole camera to the TV.
I guess that this bit simply hasn't yet been made to work.
Any other suggestions to someone that is sinking fast would be appreciated.

Where?
I dont like Nero unreservedly but It has certain features I find very handy:

.
I dont find Nero to be bloatware personally I quite like its burning abilitities and use Image drive a lot as I tend to store data DVD disca ect as ISO ( nrg files) and "mount" them for playback or duplicate them
I could live without Nero ( there are alternatives) but it does the job well , for me
And it does playback AVCHD files
Your limited needs make it less attractive to you then ..

Re: Software Player for Sony HDR TG3
Splash works! It's great - thanks. No juddering or delays.
What I haven't found out how to do is that it simply plays one scene and doesn't seem to start with scene1 and then play all scenes sequentially in a folder.
Is there a setting I haven't found yet to play all scenes in a folder?
Jeff
