Aspect ratio editing - Premier Elements

Aspect ratio editing - Premier Elements
I have captured some footage on my new Canon FS11 (set in Widescreen) but when I transfer it to my PC and import it to Premier Elements (set in 16:9 PAL) the footage is squashed in standard ratio. What am I doing wrong?

You say you Set the capture template for 16:9. If so it may be the way the preview display is configured

When you open elements did you go Setup>dvPal >widescreen then choose save as default or just new preset
