JVC CU-VD3 Share Station - Urgent Help Please

Hi All,

I am in the market for a new camcorder as my 9 year old Sony is on it's last legs. I am looking for a high def camera, but one of my concerns was what to do with footage. I have until now been connecting my sony camcorder to my dvd recorder by firewire, doing basic editing on the dvd recorder (dvd ram) & then having a watchable home movie via my TV.

This route would no longer be appropriate with the new camera though - no point in having a high def camera & tv but a standard def disc. Then I saw in Comet that they are doing a deal on the JVC HD10 camcorder, where they are giving away a CU-VD3 Share Station DVD Burner for free with this model.

I have searched the jvc website, manuals for both products & even called JVC direct, but cannot get answers to the following questions. If anybody out there has these products, or knows the answers to the questions, I would be very grateful for your help:

1. Can you burn the highest quality high def xp mode to this Burner (I know you will only get about 30 minutes on a DL disc)?
2. If the answer to question 1 is yes, can this disc then be played back by connecting the Burner to the camera & my TV?

I do not want to purchase a new PC or Blu Ray player at this time, so this might be the answer as I can do very basic editing in camera. If the answers to the questions are no then I might have to go for a more expensive Canon option - but the above would cost £399 & the Canon option would be about £600 which is quite a difference in these times & might get easier Mrs Wakefield Shots approval.

Thanks in advance for any help.
