Is it that I won't be able to put my films on DVD? This would be really annoying.
I have had trouble importing clips to Final Cut - everything came out unrendered. But I solved it by getting MPEG Streamclip.
Can anyone help me and give me some advice on the problems 30fps will give me? That way at least I can sound a bit more knowledgeable when I take it up with the people who sold me this camera!

You should be able to create DVD's albeit in the NTSC standard, these should be playable on most modern DVD players and TV's.
Problems will arrise if you ever want to use PAL standard video with the Sanyo footage (eg. if you ever update your cam and it's a PAL model) the two formats don't mix well, even converting the footage to 25fps gives unsatisfactory results IMO. HD is the same.
You could take it back and say that it's not a PAL standard cam, so not fit for your editing purposes.
