Is my system up to HD editing standards?

Hi, here is my specs on my HP. I would like some feedback on what would need to be upgraded to edit hd more efficiently. I know I should get a faster processor like a 3.0. So any criticism and reccommendations on my system will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob.

Re: Is my system up to HD editing standards?

that's overkill for HD, but only if you're talking HDV. I'm not sure about AVCHD, maybe someone who has something similar can answer

what camera do you have or plan to get?
any HDV one will not have a problem with your PC

Re: Is my system up to HD editing standards?

Totally Agree it is way more than fine for HDV

Depending on software it is quite decent even for AVCHD

Some software are just not as efficient with resources as others

Adobe Premiere Elements ( and Pro) run better with better hardware

If you have Nero Vision ( full version) you can get some AVCHD clips and see how you get on with them.
You have to draw the line somewhere though. A well set up i7 system will fly but your system looks as if it will work fine . All boils down to what you consider as " more efficiently"

Re: Is my system up to HD editing standards?

Thanks for the reply Senu. I have heard that a 2.8 processor speed would be best for avchd editing. When I used Pinnacle in the past, I had some lag and issues when putting transitions in and also with Windows Movie Maker. I have the Vegas Pro 9.0 installed and it seems ok but some lag at transitions. Would it make sense to change out my processor to 2.8 or higher? I hear quite alot about i7. I will look more into that.
Thank you for the input mmace. I have the Panasonic hdc-sd9 camera with avchd. Unfortunatley this is a non-raid dicc and I read that it is peferred to have a raid disc. Any insight on the raid disc? Thanks again for the help,
Rob.

Re: Is my system up to HD editing standards?

That spec is fine for AVCHD editing, expecially if you can get software that uses all 4 cores of your cpu.
