Manufacturer branded batteries - what are the (safe!) alternatives

Manufacturer branded batteries - what are the (safe!) alternatives
I have a Canon HG10 and need to accessorise!

Spare Canon-branded batteries are V expensive, but are there any reputable non branded batteries?

How do I minimise my risk without spending a fortune?

I dont know about the HG10, but I saved a fortune buying "copies" from Hong Kong.. I paid £15 for 2xBP819 batteries + a seperate charger.. A legit 819 would set you back £90 in the UK - multiply that with two and you have my saving.. So far the battery seems to perform perfectly fine, hopefully it wil stay like that.

In my previous camcorder I also used copies, again no problems what so ever.
