Sony HDRSR10E & Sony Vegas 9

Totally new to video editing. Do I need to install the software that came with this VC or can I just install Sony vegas 9.....Do I need both
Also, will the following PC spec do the job?

Q6600 @ 2.4 (will OC if need be)
2 Gig RAM (800 Mhz)
8800GTX

Any help is much appreciated

Re: Sony HDRSR10E & Sony Vegas 9

If it's anything like my Sony HD camcorder, the bundled software only includes a HD video viewer (a media player basically) and a one-click type programme for creating a DVD from the videos on the camera. So basically, it doesn't offer any proper HD authoring/editing.

The model I have uses a memory stick to record onto as opposed to a HDD so I can remove that and copy the video clips to the PC with any card reader. Not sure how yours will work though, so you may have to install the bundled software even if its just to copy the contents of the camera's HDD to your PC.

Once the video's are on your PC though, Sony Vegas will open and edit them no problem without any additional software.

Really can't say about the PC specs, I'm not up to speed on that. Mines handles it without grinding to a halt, so I can say that much!
