Panasonic HDC-SD9 (no data on card)

I've only had the camera for a week and already have a problem. Spent the day filming various scenes around town (stupidly without previewing any of them!) When I got home I tried to view the results and got error message 'no data on card'. Must have corrupted the data somehow. Removed SD card & re-inserted and all is fine now .. can't repeat the problem no matter what I try (even trying to remove card whilst recording!) What did I do wrong?
Interestingly, when I browse the SD card with my card reader the mts files are stil there! In fact I've dragged them onto my PC in case I can salvage them in the future. Any ideas? Thanks Paul (PS. Kingston 16 Gb SDHC card)

Re: Panasonic HDC-SD9 (no data on card)

If you import the data via your card reader using HD Writer, you should be able to import the whole file structure, and preview the files using that software. If the whole file structure is complete, you should also be return the files to the card using the same software, and play it back in the camera.
If you have imported the .mts files directly onto your PC, then you wont be able to return them to the camera. The card reader will treat the card as a standard 'bulk storage' device, and only import the video files, not the AVCHD structure that goes with them.

If the files are corrupt, as you suspect, you should still be able to play the raw .mts video files on your PC, providing it is powerful enough, using a freeware player like Media Player Classic.

I've not had the problem you describe with any of the files from my SD5 (the predecessor to your SD9), so I can't offer any reason for the problem you've encountered.

Re: Panasonic HDC-SD9 (no data on card)

Rogs, Thanks for your reply.
HDWriter doesn't see the files on the card ... just as the camera doesn't see them!
My PC isn't good enough to show HD at anything more than 2 fps!
Luckily the films are of no great value, it's just baffling me how the problem occurred.
I have downloaded the trial version of Movavi 7.1 which is making quite good mpeg2 out of the mts files. I might even buy it!
