I have discovered that my camcorder (JVC GR-DVL30) can have the DV-In enabled. It appears that there are a few ways to do this; by a service engineer, DIY with a 'widget' or with a RS232-3.5mm jack plug cable and the relevant software.

My questions are;

Do the widgets (which are make & model specific) work once only?
If not I assume they can be sold on to another camcorder owner to enable their unit?

Has anyone tried the RS232 & software option? Is the eeprom reprogramming software easy to obtain?

If the 2nd user route is an option, are there any DVL30 owners out there who wish to trade software or widgets?

As I understand it, they only work with one camera when first used, although you can keep converting in and out as long as you like, for example if you have to send it back for repair under the warranty as using a widget invalidates the warranty.

I don't believe you can use in more than one cam.
