Anyway I,m looking at buying (online) a decent matte box firstly, that can hold filters, and actually ,come to think it I'm seriously thinking of getting a steadicam type system at some point.can anyone recommend good dealers or online stores for this sort of thing.....?

You might also want to take a look at Chrosziel's web site (link to their price list below). They do pretty much everything you have asked for. Not cheap though.
