Is the Canon HF10 still the one to buy?

I am going to be purchasing a camcorder around the £550 mark in the next week or so.

Considering the HF 10 been around for a year now is it still the one to buy or has a newer version been annouced?

any help would be much appreciated!

The HF100 (it's the HF10 in silver and without the built-in memory) is typically much better value for money, unless you come across a really good deal on the HF10. But in general, yes: the Canon HFs have been very well received.

Agree completely. I went for the HF100 because I could get a 16gb memory card for much much much less than the difference in price between the HF10 and HF100. Plus it's easier to just take out a memory card and stick it into your computer than having to connect the camcorder to the computer by USB (and the charger has to be plugged in to transfer as well).

Well there is now the HF11 (a rather excellent review here: ProVideo Coalition.com: Camera Log by Adam Wilt | Video Camera Reviews which I was reading just this morning) and in a couple of months we will have the HF S10, HF S100 (what horrible names!), HF20 and HF200. This does not mean the HF10 or HF100 are no good, far from it. In fact at least one of the early reviews suggest the picture quality is no better on the new models, despite the higher bitrate.
