EasyCap advice for burning to disc please

Hi guys,

I have just installed an EasyCap Video adapter thingy, which so far seems brilliant, even a non-techno idiot like me managed it.
The problem I seem to be having is:
When I first started I managed to burn a test dvd (only bout 3mins worth) just to see if it worked. On my sons tv/dvd (cheap digilogic) it worked, although the sound and picture was slow and slurey. But on my bush 2054divix dvd player it brings up a blue screen with audio and video, i press video but it says JPEG file (even though I know it is an mpeg file). Why does it work on my sons dvd (allbeit slow) and not my bush.
I thought I must have done something wrong so tried to burn another copy but
I can get the video from the player to the file, but when I put in a disc to burn it, it keeps saying 'the disc may not have enough space' then when I click ok, it says 'this action may take some time to render' (cool) but then it says 'this disc is not empty or writable'.
It is a memorex CD-R, brand new out of the pack?????
What am I doing wrong?
Please help, I was doing so well upto that point.

If your burning a DVD then you'll need a DVD-R not CD-R, you can make a Video CD with CD-R but it's in a different format from DVD.

Re: EasyCap advice for burning to disc please

I think the EasyCap Video adapter thingy , is really a Video capture device . Where did you get your DVD test file from ?? .Are you trying to trying to write to disk directly from the EasyCap as in "on the fly " ??.
Your source file is captured by the EasyCap to a file ,avi ,mpeg etc in a video editing package .You can edit this file and save it . You use a encoder program to put this file onto a DVD. I use Sonic DVD It to put any file [, avi, mpeg ,wmv etc ]directly onto a DVD .
What program are you using to capture ? and what's the source ie , VHS ,DVD etc ??

Re: EasyCap advice for burning to disc please

I will try to put on a dvd encoder as you said. I just followed the instructions from EasyCap and it says I should be able to plug and burn.
The test file is what the easycap downloaded from a vhs video to my pc. I thought the easycap encluded the editing with the package. Am I that dumb to think it is that easy. I dont know, maybe. But the packaging says it is.
:-(
