Question power supply fs100

Hi, I have lost my power supply ,for my canon FS100,model number CA-590E ,. The cheapest I've come across for purchasing a new one is around £45 plus p&p. I already have a brand new canon power supply model CA-570. I was wondering wether I could use this power supply instead of forking out for a new one. The dc out put on the CA-570 is 8.4v @ 2.0 amp. If this is possible does anyone know where I could buy an adapter to change the 3mm round pin powertip on the CA-570 to the one used on the CA-590E, alternatively just the power tip and I could cut off the tip and attach the new one. The socket on the FS100 is similar to a mini usb but not identicle.
TIA Disastermaster.

Re: power supply fs100

You'll need to check out if the two supplies do have the same outputs. I use the CA 560 with my Canon camera, and that has an output of 9.5V at 2.7A, so would probably damage your camera, for example.
The output volts are very important. They must be the same. The current rating (A) not so important, providing it's the same, or larger, than your missing supply.
As regards the connection change, you must make absolutely certain that you get the polarity right (the plus and minus connections). Get that wrong, and you could be in real trouble.
Think I'd spend the £45, rather than risk it!

Re: power supply fs100

The voltages are the same on both models 8.4v, I'm not quite sure on the amperage , although 2amp would seem plenty enough to run and charge the internal battery.
