HV30: 2nd hand for £485 is it worth it?

Hi

I can get hold of a Hv30 2nd hand, it's only been used once, it was bought last june 2008 from amazon so he has the original receipt along with UK warranty, obviously working and in new condition

It also has a spare Canon battery, Lowepro bag and few tdk tapes.

Seller upgraded his computer and has got a HF100 instead.

Would this seem good value?

Bite Size Deals - Canon HV30 High Definition Camcorder (10 x Optical Zoom With 2.7" Widescreen Multi-Angle Vivid LCD) Updated version from the HV20 you would get a seller 12 month guarentee buying new.

thanks for that chrishull3, however they are US based purporting to be UK and if you google bite size deals there is a lot bad about them, I fear it will be a US model from them.

It doesn't sound unrealistic. These were selling new for around the £600 mark. With battery and bag, you might have been looking at £670 to £680, so you're getting it for £200 off. Still has four months' warranty (although this will be in the original owner's name, and therefore any warranty repairs would have to be handled through him / her). Are you buying it sight unseen? Through the AVForums classifieds, or someone you know? Personally, I'd want to run a tape through to make sure it's not a lemon.

Re: HV30: 2nd hand for £485 is it worth it?

thanks again A n d r e w, I have seen it already no marks, lens cover works lens not marked or LCD it is very good condition, I will see it later and run a tape through it

It does look new, I guess if it has been used for approx 2 hours it should do.

I guess its not a bad price then so a little negotiation may help
