Sony DCR-TVR110E Digital 8 not charging???

Hi

I have been given a Sony DCR-TVR110E Digital 8 Handycam to use for the arrival of our baby in 4 days. It was my dads but he passed away last January so I cannot ask him how to charge it.

I have read and followed the instructions fully. I have connected the mains lead to the charger and set the power to OFF but nothing displays in the display. I have x2 sets of batteries and have tried both. Both batteries initially for 3 seconds on first charge displayed the charge symbol in the display but within 3 seconds the display went blank.

There is no charge in the camera when it is unplugged and the camera only works if the camera is plugged into the mains and switched on.

HELP????

Are there any other buttons I need to be pushing. I have followed exactly the instructions. Are the batteries (NP-F330 Li-ion 7.2 volts) dead and need replacing, or does it sound like a fault with the charger or camera?

Your help would be appreciated as our baby is due Friday and we would like some early footage of our little one.

Many thanks.

i take it you have to set the power to off after connecting the mains lead to charger,i dont understand this but if they started charging at first it must be right but what happens if the power is on.

Re: Sony DCR-TVR110E Digital 8 not charging???

If the power is on and plugged into the mains it turns the camera on or the playback on.

If we unplug it from the mains there's no charge in the camera batteries as it won't allow us to charge it.

It was switched to off when it tried charging for 3 seconds then went blank.

Sony Handycam DCR TRV110E : Read reviews and compare prices at Ciao.co.uk
is there no switch on the adaptor for charge or alternatively to camcorder.

No. The instructions just says turn the switch to OFF when charging which we've done and the display is blank. When we have it plugged in to the mains the display works. When unplugged from the mains nothing works it's dead.
