Video Recording in Church to DVD

Folks,

Look for some help and advice. We would like to record church sessions to DVD for those that can't attend. Currently we only record audio from the PA system to cassette tape - very old!

Ideally I'd like to record straight to DVD so that there is no post-processing work to be done. As a benefit, if the camera can be remote controlled, as in remote zoom/pan&tilt it would be really good but is not a necessity.

We really need to keep it as simple as possible - essentially press the record button and then the stop button!

I had thought of a video camera recording straight to a portable DVD recorder but not sure if this is possible?

Re: Video Recording in Church to DVD

It is possible via firewire but that combination of camcorder and DVD recorder need to gel
You would be far better buying a tape MiniDv camcorder and a Settop DVD recorder with HDD
Although it involves transferring the footage to the settop from tape and then making a DVD, it is a far more robust way of getting your services
Otherwise get one with a HDD and use the PC to make the DVD
DVD camcorder will only get you 40min max at not very good quality and if you get a duff disc , you can kiss the service good bye
What you gain in time ( not needing to make a DVD) you will lose in the inconveneince of needing to change discs midway and I would certainly be wary of using an optical disc as the archive of any footage
