HD Camcorder

I am looking to but a second hand HD camcorder on ebay and wanted to know what people would recommend, I don't want to spend a fortune either. I am currently looking at the following:

Sony HDR-UX3
Sony HC1e

This is only based on me borrowing friends and having a go. The HC1E is good but very heavy and tape are a pain.

Things seem to have changed so much since I got my trusty Panasonic NVGS-120

Re: HD Camcorder

How much would you like to spend? How are you planning on viewing (and distributing) your videos? What kind of computer are you using for editing them?

These are all factors in advising you what to look for.

You may think the HC-1 big but it has plenty of on cam control and is a very solid well built camcorder,i know i do not go the way of many now adays who want tiny cams but this cam is good and although i use tape and avchd i still prefer tape as far editing goes to make my bd discs.

Re: HD Camcorder

If it were my money I think I'd find an extra £40 and go for the Play.com (UK) : Panasonic HDC SD9 High Definition Digital Camcorder : Electronics - Free Delivery

Footage from the HC1 will probably be easier to edit, but the SD9 is brand new, flash-based so no moving parts, quicker to transfer video to a computer etc...

Id take the HC-1 over the UX3 anyday but if you must avoid tape your budget will determine what you go for , really
