Best cheap camcorder.

Hi all,

I am looking for some recommendations...

I am planning a snowboarding holiday and I want to record some video footage whilst I am there. I am looking for a cheap device to make movie clips - I don't want to spend much as there is a high chance of damaging/loosing it.

I was thinking of either getting an old digital camera that can record video or something like the flip video, panasonic SDR-?? or Sanyo Xacti-??. I am happy to buy second hand from ebay but my budget is ideally about £50.

I already have a few micro SDHC cards so something that uses that format would be great. I require at least 640x480 @25fps video resolution - higher res if possible. Battery life is going to be important - maybe something that can be run from rechargeable AA batteries would be best? That way I can charge up a few sets overnight and then swap them on the mountain.

I want to know which cameras offer the best picture quality / price balance. Any recommendations?

Oh and it should be easy to hold onto whilst sliding down a mountain!

Oh, my local Comet store had a flashlight type sd card camera, I think it was £99, the type you can strap on then when you fall over send the footage to Harry Hill and get £250 back..

Re: Best cheap camcorder.

I just won one of these on ebay for £65.

http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equ...i-vpc-ca6.html

The water/snow proof body is a bit of a bonus and apparently this can be upgraded to SDHC with a firmware update.

I'm not expecting much in terms of quality but hopefully it will get the job done. What do you reckon?

Not a lot
I think it is a nice gadget but camcorder ability is an afterthought TBH

Berty: Well - I just bought a CA6 but maybe someone else will take you up on that offer. Good Luck.

By the way, how did you get on with the C1?

Re: Best cheap camcorder.

It was great in its day, screens a bit small now and only 3.2megapix, very easy to switch between video and pics and straight to SD very easy to edit. I just use it as a backup camera and skiing, keeping it in a very hard case.

Enjoy your holiday, I’m jealous
