Canon HV20 Text Flickers on LCD screen

Hi, I just received my Canon HV20. When using the camcorder in recording mode, the top line of text on the LCD screen flickers. Is this normal?

What do you mean by the "top line of text"? what text is this ?
I have no text line in recording mode on my HV20.
But if you do then I don't think it should flicker

I mean the top line of icons that show what modes the camcorder is in. There is a flicker on the icons but not on the actual footage that is recorded.

Looks like a small fault, as I said there's no sign of flicker on the icons in mine that I've ever noticed, If it's new it might be worth returning it as it could get worse in the future IMHO.
On the other hand it could last forever
