Trying to get Pictures out a video file but they are all ways wavey ?

Trying to get Pictures out a video file but they are all ways wavey ?

Hi I want to get some pictures out of a video file I have, every time I pause the video thou to save the image its all ways wavey/ Any ideas on what to do ? so I can get a nice clean picture like the HD video file.

Welcome to the wonderful world of interlaced video. Whenever you shoot something in interlaced mode the frame is composed of two interlaced fields which are taken a fraction of a second apart (1/50th in Europe).

That's the effect you're seeing. If you're doing a lot of still frame grabs then you're better shooting progressive if you can.

For the footage already shot you can de-interlace using something like Photoshop ("Filters" "Video" "De-Interlace").

If the interlacing is only evident in one area of the picture you can selectively de-interlace by masking etc rather than reducing the resolution of the whole image (which de-interlacing will do).
