Panasonic GS330 MiniDV Camcorder - anybody tried one?

Does anyone own or has tried one of these? I am interested, but can't find ANY reviews or helpful info on the web! I know it's a 3CCD model, and that Jessops can order it in if needs be - any comments?

Cheers

Good camcorder. The lack of a mic input and native 16:9 sensors are its main drawbacks (it has a 16:9 mode whereby it effectively crops the top and bottom of the image, reducing the resolution slightly in the process). But the GS330 has good colour reproduction, good manual control, reasonable optics . . . can't fault it in any other way.

Nice - thanks Andrew!

I have just got into the whole camcorder/editing 'thing', and love it! Just don't have a camcorder yet... been borrowing a Sony MiniDV one! I am happy with the quality of that one - a Sony HC19E - are there any others you'd recommend for at least the same image quality?

Budget £250 max ideally, and really really wanna stick to MiniDV. Have seen a few budget Canons in Jessops, but unsure of the quality. Also, would rather buy from the high street.

Re: Panasonic GS330 MiniDV Camcorder - anybody tried one?

They are generally of similar video quality
The Canons MD 235 ect have mic in which is a plus if you want to use and external microphone
Any model with DV-in is also desirable as you can " write" the edited DV AVI file back to tape
I wouldn't set much by the 3CCD the Panasonic has in comparing it to the single CMOS models

PS: there are some I would be less inclined to buy , but I would rather you named them yourself for opinions than state them outright
