Hf 100 and sd dvds

Hi,
Please can someone clear up my confusion?? If I buy said camera and shoot HD footage can i then make sd dvd on my computer to give to friends and family who have only got sd dvd players and not blu ray etc. If so can i still get about 1.5 to 2 hrs of home movie on a normal 4.7gb dvdr. I have a blu ray player so fancy having the hd camera.
Many thanks
max

Yes. often achievable in software. The other way to do it is hook up the camcorder to a settop DVd recorder but though faster, the quality from composite video will be less satisfactory
This is one are tape hi def (HDV) is a bit better as the camcorder can downconvert Hi def footage on the tape " on the fly"

Yep although quality begins to drop the more you try to cram in
Have you noticed that even with feature fils they never put 2 hrs in a single layer disc to preserve quality?

Reasonable.. does your Blu ray player play AVCHD discs though or were you planning on a BD burner?
