Sony SR12 Video transfer question

I have a Sony HDR-SR12E and I am trying to transfer the content from the hard disc to a safe area so I can delete the content I did this once and managed to import it to Video Studio 11 plus but I cannot open any of the files that I saved as it tells me they cannot be re-linked and others which are on the computer seem to have the wrong extensions this.
the transfer I did was the first since I bought the camera I am sure there is a simple answer can anybody help

Re: Sony SR12 Video transfer question

basically I am afraid of losing the videos I have recorded on the camcorder when I delete them I used the provided software that comes with it to transfer everything across and that worked fine I burnt a dvd and sent it to my son, then I thought I would check to see if I could do it again first of all transferring the content again but once you have used the software to do this it will not let you do it again, now I have files on the computer from the download from the camera and I have tried to capture them in Video Studio 11 and it will not work and I don't seem to be able to burn another disc from the Sony software

Re: Sony SR12 Video transfer question

Its more than likely you still have the files on your HDD as using them to make a DVd doesnt erase them
Where on the HDD are they and do you have them as m2ts ( AVCHD )?
The issue of relinking should only happen in reference to the camcorder

As standalone files on your PC this should not be so unless you are not clickin on the actual video files
A bit of detective work is needed here
