Wink Sony DCR-HC46E DV camcorder- captured movie has shuddering

When I capture footage from the DV tapes to my laptop (via i.Link firewire) the footage almost makes you feel sea-sick - due to slight shuddering when the camcorder is moved during recording. I have used both Movie Maker and Cyberlink PowerDirector to capture the footage - both with the same results. My laptop is an Acer high-spec one set up for dvd making. 2 years ago my husband captured some of the same movies to our old PC (which has since died) and his captured footage shows nothing of this shuddering travel sickness stuff - the only difference for him would have been a) he was using a PC (Windows 98 or XP) and b) he used Ulead software to capture. Can anyone shed some light - I have over 50 tapes to put on computer and make movies out of and would rather try to get this right now, rather than at the end of 50. Thanks a mill!

Re: Sony DCR-HC46E DV camcorder- captured movie has shuddering

Have you tried
A different cable
Defragmenting your HDD?
or
I dont think it is software related but you can try WinDV
If the footage is fine off the tape
It is related to capture
Sometimes it helps to not beon the internet, Not have anitivirus or other programes running while capturing
If you have that many a PC would be better than a laptop iof only because of size of HDD and speed 7200rpm rather than 5400
