After a gap of a couple of years ( including relocation from Ireland to Spain) I decided to finish off the work that I had started years ago. I upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 12. I set everything up as usual, but unfortunately despite re-loading drivers etc I cannot get the Moviebox to operate; ( Cannot start device - Code 10). It hasn't been manhandled to the best of my knowledge. I've tried posting on the Pinnacle forum itself - but I think I'm looking at replacing the device. It would appear however, that the current Moviebox devices come bundled with software |
The software is a cut down version of Pinnacle Studio.Installing it may well make Pinnacle 12 see it. Pinnacle Studio decided to use Liquids " engine" from ver 10 onwards, that may account for the older box not being "seen" but it may be also that there is a workabout.
I also have movie box ( from ver 9 but the much better Pro BOB from Avid Liquid 7 ( which Avid is no longer developing, sadly , having bought it off Pinnacle)
Saying that you can have vers 9 ( and 12) both on the same system: capture with 9 ( and edit with 12) with your current moviebox

. Does anyone know if the new Moviebox can be purchased separately?

I dont think so, ordinarily but it is probably the case it would cost as much anyway

Is there an alternative video capture device available which will do the same thing and which is compatible with Pinnacle Studio 12 - such as e.g.the eponymous EZ Grabber Video Capture Device?

THIS product from Canopus is costlier but far better IMHO
Im pretty sure EZ grabber will convert to mpeg2 " on the fly". Will it do it well?..probably not but YMMV
