Smile Dvd camcorder

I have a dvd camcorder and have been using roxio mydvd8 to edit my films i had to reinstall the software in doing this i lost a fix for the program which roxio no longer supply as they say i should buy the latest version, as i already paid for this software and they have the fix to make it work i don't see why i should have to buy new software when i already have it.Next question is does anyone have the fix on there pc i could use or what other software is good and easy to use with a dvd camcorder as i wont buy mydvd again due the way they treat customers.I only do basic editing so nothing too fancy is needed thanks.
