I don't believe it's possible, as soon as you close it the cam switches off, also you need it to see what your looking at.

Re: TG3 recording with screen closed...

You could test to see if recording with the LCD closed works by turning the camera on, opening the LCD, pressing record, and closing the LCD. This method works on Panasonic's AVCHD camcorders to allow recording with the LCD closed - useful if you're recording action footage with the camera attached to a mountain bike or a helmet, for example.

Exactly, thats my idea to use with my mountain bike

Recording with LCD closed saves a lot of battery.

What can i do....maybe something with the firmware???

Thanks a million for the replys and happy new year!!

Re: TG3 recording with screen closed...

It's just not possible, all the cams controls are via the screen.
The only thing I can suggest is to rotate the screen flat on the cam and cover it with some protective cover if you need to attach it to a helmet or similar.
Won't save on the battery though

Yeh, the way to do it, is to open the display to turn it on - rotate it so it lies flat - with the display on the outside, - and then press record.
You can't record with the display switched off though, which I guess is what you want to do.
