I am wanting to transfer my mini dv tapes to my pc, i have a sony dcr hc90. i was to told to download the picture bridge software but there are a number of different versions can anyone help

Its not what i would recamend,there are plenty of cheap software that are fine for mini dv.

To capture from tape to PC via fire wire, You can simply use Windows Movi Maker or WIN DV ( both free)
To actually edit the footage, as suggested above you can do better than "picture bridge" ( what ever that is?)
