Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

According to JVC's website, the MG364 is not a current model. Here's the present Everio lineup: JVC UK » Product Centre › Camcorder › Everio

Personally, I'd avoid the standard defintion Everios unless the price was right. How much is the asking?

Andrew.

Currently £259.99 with £30 cash back if you send of a copy of receipt! Think they are only sold through currys and dixons?

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Please dont think I know anything (cus i dont) but personally after carefull consideration I opted for HDD due to convenience, apart from that I just trawled the shops (knowing internet prices for pretty much all models) and fondled pretty much every one that fitted the bill.

The one I got was discounted so I went for it, it has a large harddrive so I was happy there and even if it isnt the best quality in its class I knew i'd be more than happy with it.

I recommend if you are very concerned with quality then maybe look up reviews before 'going for it', if you do all this you cant go wrong

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Thanks for your reply ! I have read a hell of alot of reviews on alot of different camcorders (mainly HDD models) and i cant really draw anything from them due to some people saying 1 model is crap and other people saying the same model is fantastic ?

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Take a look here: Camcorder Reviews - Reviews - Reviews, Ratings & Comparisons

No review is perfect, but the chaps at camcorderinfo.com do at least subject each model reviewed to the same exacting tests.

Just bear in mind that the reviewed models are US models, not UK ones. In some cases the model numbers differ slightly; in all cases the framerate is different (30 frames per second in the States, 25 fps here).

You'll want to determine exactly how much you'd like to spend, as well as how you're going to archive and edit your video.

Andrew.

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Realistically if your not Steven Spielberg and just want to record for fun (family occassions, hobbies etc) like me I think with the budget you have talked about you will be over the moon with anything you buy.

I was looking to spend approx a hundred pound if I could, but opted for a Hardrdive model as I think it will be easier to transfer recordings etc, I looked for the cheapest models and the one I got was'nt far off in price so I blew the budget.

It is way beyond what I needed I know i'd have been happy with a cheap model but as it stands I am over the moon, I think the reviews are aimed at people who are very very into it and a lot of the critisism I discounted.

My model did'nt get great reviews and I love it, it is great so dont get too disheartended by the reviews

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Cheers everyone for your input ! Been looking at the Panasonic SD9 due to a hell of alot of good reviews!
Currys digital only had the display model left which put me off cuz everyone has had there maulers on it ! Pc world has 2 left but it was priced at £429.99 which i thought was a bit steep without any cashback or offers available ! So the search goes on i suppose ?

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

I used to have the everio mg36 but lost it in a drunken mess boxing night and they are replacing mine with the 364b and it seems identical spec wise. Ignore the bad reviews about the everio range as to be honest I think theyre fab...ok so in low light they dont compare at all to mini dv but the advantage is that it has a hard drive. .Mod files are very easy to work with too. Let me know if you have any q's.

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

saga is an understatement - luckily I managed to get my phone back but the camcorder hmmmmm oh well someone will be getting money from youve been framed with the mad family on tape singing carols!!

With regards to your question we have watched the videos (edited with ulead videostudio) on a 42", 39" and 32" and have had no issues at all. Holiday is normally when its used most of the time so it is outside but to be honest I wouldnt change it for the world, loved it to bits and very easy to use the .mod files as theyre just mpeg named differently.

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

How does the JVC GZ-MG364B compare with the SONY DCR-SR35E in the following:

a) Image quality
b) Low light recording
c) Has the JVC got the 'night-shot' mode similar to Sony?
d) How effective is the Sony 'night-shot' mode?

Cheers.

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

I can compare the old MG36 with the Sony as my uncle has that and there was nothing in it at all - they were both quite as poor in low light so I can imagine there is little difference again with the MG364. As far as Im aware all hdd camcorders are not wonderful in low light.

Re: Jvc gz-mg364b

Any suggestions on which I should consider between the JVC GZ-MG364B and SONY DCR-SR35E (not considering the hard-drive capacity). Please give reasoning too.
