DVDirect Question

Hi Guys;

I am looking at this Sony DVDirect (VRD-MC5) product from Sony.

Perhaps I am reading this wrong, but I am getting some conflicting info:

From a well known UK Store selling this product, they say the following in the spec. listing:

"Recording modes: Standard Definition (SD) - allows creation of DVD Video directly from Camcorder or other source, High Definition (HD) - allows copying of AVCHD Video to DVD (does not Support AVCHD DVD Playback. For Playback, BlueRay layer/Recorder, PS3, or high performance PC is required)"

What I want to achieve is the following:

1. Copy video from a Sony HDR-SR12E to this VRD-MC5 onto DVD and play this in HD in a Sony PS3.

2. Will this same DVD that I have burned also play on a regular DVD player - or will I have to burn another disc of the same video to achieve this?

Finally; does anyone recommend this product? My PC is ok - but not a super high spec. so I am looking at alternatives.

Thanks
