Sony Vegas 9 Export to WMV (HD)

Hi There all

Not sure if its ok asking qu's specifically about editing SW but figured its nothing that one of you guys here havent already done


Has anyone every successfully been able to export a movie to WMV using Vegas. I havent got the windows media audio codec installed?

I do have Windows media encoder installed

Yes,, it was straightfoward. I did it from HDV and AVCHD footage from the Sony HC1 and Canon HG 10 just to compare

This thread looks a little bit like what i am looking for.

Can someone pleeeeeaaaaaase tell me how to upload videos from sony vegas 9 on to youtube. And how to get them into high quality?

Please sum1 give me sum ideas....all i can find on the web is vegas 8.

That's because Vegas 8 is the current version. People here are really talking about Vegas Moviestudio 9, since the full version of Vegas is appallingly expensive!

Expensive, not appalingly so
Sony also have this very cheap to full version upgrade even if you previously only had the MS version
Moot point though.. all versions can output You Tube friendly files

I dont think you can directly upload to You Tube but that isnt hard as you can upload any files on your local HDD
This issue of choice of format and quality really is one of trial and error as the balance is always between size and quality
However given that any uploads are compressed a bit , it may look great on your PC but not streamed , a little bit of trial and error is not amiss.

YouTube's preferred upload spec here.

Edit to add, it's just a shame the new system shafts users who have previously uploaded letterboxed 4:3 movies to show their 16:9 efforts!
