Sony HDR-TG3E handycam - Laptop not finding camera on install

Hi,

I have just bought the Sony HDR-TG3E Handycam and am going through the standard setup process as you do with all new gear. However i appear to be stuck at a point where normally it is not an issue!

I have setup the camera with the battery and memory card, i then put the CD for the Picture Motion software and it asks me to Install. I select install and after 20 seconds or so it asks me to connect the camera. I connect using the docking station which is plugged in for AC and is also connected using USB to the docking station. However i do not connect to the laptop until asked. I then select USB on screen on the camera and that then states 'connected', so i then click continue on screen. A message appears stating it cannot find the camera!

I can confirm the Camera is recognised by the laptop by viewing current USB connections however interstingly the camera does not show in My COmputer as i would expect as a Mass Storage Device.

I think i'm going mad, any help or tips would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Chris

Re: Sony HDR-TG3E handycam - Laptop not finding camera on install

Fixed by going into Disk Management within Device Manager and assigning the camera a new drive letter!

Thanks
