Re: Whats the best up to £400

In that case, look at the Panasonic SD9 or the Sony TG3 - both high definition camcorders recording in AVCHD format to removable memory cards.

You'll find lengthy threads on both the SD9 and the TG3 in this forum.

I don't know much about the GZ-HD10, except that JVC have opted for a different implementation of high defintion, using a variant of MPEG-2 rather than the MPEG-4 used in AVHCD. I'm not sure anyone here actually owns one, either . . . Which isn't to say it's not a great camcorder, just that it's a bit of an unknown quantity around here.

Incidentally, I believe Canon have a £50 "cashback" offer on at the moment, as do Sony (theirs might even be £60). Panasonic have a similar offer (£50 cash back + extended warranty) but only purchases made at particpating stores (not online).

Andrew.

Re: Whats the best up to £400

You get about 1 hour per 8GB. Bear in mind that standard SDHC cards aren't compatible with the Sony TG3, which uses Sony MemoryStick cards (a bit more pricey than SDHC).

Re: Whats the best up to £400

id go for the panasonic sd9 then, only £350 and a neat little camcorder.
I dont see why people want the tg3, its just too small so whats the point.

Wait for Amazon to drop the price to £450 again, then after £50 cash back (check dates, finishes sometime next month I think), £450 - £50 = £400.
