Thanks: Gave 3, Got 2 | is there any difference between the SONY HDR-S11e/ 12e
hi folks,
gonna get a new camcorder for christmas and i quite like sony stuff and have read good reports of the SONY HD camcorders.
my question is, is there any difference between the HDR-S11e and the HDR- S12e apart from the extra 60GB memory?
and is it noticeable difference if any?
price i dont mind either but should i just get the 12e?
i would only need to record upto around 6hrs at a time before transfering data

Only one difference that I'm aware of: the size of the internal hard drive. The SR12 has the larger of the two: the specifications on Sony's website will tell you how much by.
Andrew.

I recommend you ask for an S R11.
The thread title should probably be corrected to facilitate searching . . .

dont wanna buy then see that they have dropped in price within 1 week | I've just bought the SR11E (30th December) and got the same price as you, £610 plus £60 cashback from sony, so effectively £550. Pretty good price I think. Store price was £696 or something but got them to match the internet price :-)
One thing I've noticed though it that the autofocus is a little bit unstable. What i mean by this is that when I was filming my dog indoors the image would keep going very slightly blurred for a split second. Now I'm very much a novice so is this user error, that I was indoors (was fairly light though), that the camera struggled to adapt to my dogs movement (I was only about 2 feet away from my dog) or a problem with the camera?

The auto focus seems quite poor on my sr12 in poor lighting. I tried videoing a steam train last year on a misty may day and it just wouldn't focus at all. I had to zoom all the way back in to the closest point and then back out to the train about 100yds away.
You can set it to manual though if the subject won't be moving too much.
