Looking for my first camcorder.

I am looking for my first camcorder and through looking at all the forums and magazines I am starting to get very confused.

What I want from a camcorder is the following:

  • Price needs to be no more than £550
  • I would ideally like a HD Camcorder
  • Don't mind on the storage options SD or HDD
  • As this is my first camcorder it needs to be easy to use
  • Easy to get the contents from the camcorder to my iMac
I have no idea on the makes/models, so would really appreciate a little assistance on what to buy and what to avoid.

Kind Regards

Phil

For that price you are left with avchd hard drive and card cams as the 2 remaining hdv are too expensive for you, canon sony and panasonic all mke good non tape cams and everyone will have their favorites,
Camcorders - Independent Camcorder Reviews, Ratings & Comparisons may be of help in your choice as well.

Re: Looking for my first camcorder.

Take a look at the Canon HF100 or HF10 (Amaz*n has both for about the same price at the moment). So long as you have an Intel Mac and iMovie '08, you'll be fine.

Andrew.
