flash memory incompatibility

I have a Sony HDR CX11E and purchased a 16GB Memory Pro Duo card on ebay - supposedly authentic Sony Magic Gate the same as the 4GB card which came with the camcorder. However when i switch on the camcorder or start to record a message appears saying "this Memory stick may not be able to play or record images correctly". The message disappears after a few seconds or if you touch the screen and the card appears to be working OK. Is there any way to stop this message appearing and is it likely that this is not a genuine Sony card. Will all non Sony cards do this?
