mini HDMI / wide angle lens / helmet

I bought a mini HDMI cable for $15. Works great. URL: http://rover.ebay.com/ar/1/711-53200...0&toolid=10001 HDMI 3m Mini Cable 1080P For Canon High-Definition sony - eBay (item 370114290978 end time Dec-16-08 01:46:34 PST)

Just like muscleflex (dec 22) I'm looking for a wide angle lens. Mat demonstrated using magnetic lenses, but doesn't seem to look rock solid (Sony HDR-TG3 with a Wide Angle Lens Ğ TECHMOAN: Gadgets, Tech and General Moaning). Cookie Composites has lenses, but they are way out of my budget (Cookie Composites). Ideas?

I want to attach the camera to my helmet (snowboarding). Any experiences?

Thanks,

Frank.

Re: mini HDMI / wide angle lens / helmet

how are you guys finding the autofocus on this cam? i'm finding that it oftens hunts in less than bright condition (indoors i'm afraid)
never had this problem with my 13yr old panasonic... so was just wondering if it's the cam or it's a fault with my unit....

thanks andrew. is the video light separate then? ie ANY video light can be used with this cam?
so in theory, i can even use just a flashlight to light my subjects? the unit does not attach/communicate with the cam for exposure settings or anything like that?

By mounting the camera on one end of the bracket (using the tripod thread) and the lamp on the other, I expect. Inelegant, but there's no accessory shoe on the TG3 so this (or something along similar lines) is the solution.

Andrew.

Re: NEW : Sony HDR-TG3/TG1 - New Smallest 1080i camcorder Pt 2

I was at a friends house and was trying to play my film sequences from the TG3 on his PS3. First of all, the PS3 does not have a slot for a MS card . We then put the card in his computer that was attached to his PS3 and the mts files were not visible. Then we put one file on a USB stick, first it was not visible and then we used Alternatives and it could be seen. But the playback was very jerky .
What does everyone else do? Why was the film jerky? Do we need to change the settings somewhere?

I could be wrong (and hopefully someone will correct me if I am), but this sounds like a video standards issue. Some PS3s are hardwired for 60i (the US / Japanese standard) whereas your TG3, if it's a European model, records 50i video. The lack of smoothness may be a result of your friends PS3 extrapolating on the fly.

Andrew.

I would imagine this is the reason for the playback problems, this is why I always recommend that buyers should never buy NTSC AV sourced equipment

Not in this case. Both the TG3 and the PS3 are bought in Sweden and are definitely PAL! Also I have tried this before on another friends's PS3 and everything worked fine.

Yes? Why do you think you would not be able to claim?
