Sony MiniDV for Canon HV20?

I have the Canon HV20 Mini DV/HDV camcorder. I'm currently using Sony premium mini dv digital video cassette (DVM60). Although I've recorded LOTS of video of my son, I actually haven't played it back yet.

I've read some negative things from others in various forums w/ respect to Sony. Should I switch to another tape (e.g. Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ)? If I do switch, should I first clean it with the Canon DVM-CL Digital Video Head Cleaning Cassette?

Thx,
Bill

I would totally agree: stick to Sony premium tapes if that is what you started with

Even if the above is no longer the case ( It certainly used to be ), you dont want to find out the hard wasy. I have in the past has to write off a costly camcorder damaged head) after a brief dabble with various tape brands
