External Mic - Canon MV960

Hi Guys, I've had a quick scout round the net and the only meaningful article i can find on this was here, with the suggestion of a mic preamp (from Maplin - Microphone Preamplifier > Maplin)

I'm assuming that owing to that conversation it is possible to use an external mic with this camcorder, but clarification would be great!

Were shooting product demo's of guitars and amplifiers and the built in mic is woefully lacking... whilst we'd like pro stuff we need a proof of concept first and at the moment audio into an external mixing desk and remixing it appears to be confusing the marketing guys, so a neater solution is required..

Any ideas on types of mic and where to look etc!?

Thanks

Scott
