Camcorder around £200ish

Hubby has just told me he wants to get me a camcorder for Xmas but is leaving me to choose (I wonder why lol) Anyway I have been searching and searching and getting nowhere. Can anyone recommend one that is good for this sort of money (£200ish) . I'm not sure I want one with the mini disc after what I have read on here about getting a dud disc as we will be using it to save memories of our little girl.

Thanks is advance for your help

Re: Camcorder around £200ish

For miniDV (tape-based) camcorders around this price, look at the Canon MD235 and the Sony DCR-HC53. Amaz0n has reasonable deals.

Also worth looking at this thread here, perhaps, if you're considering other formats: Best digital camcorder for around £150

I think it's right to say, though, that tape-based miniDV camcorders represent the best picture quality at this price point.

You'll need a firewire port on your PC to import the video from a miniDV camcorder.

Andrew.

Hi you don't need to worry about the firewire port as the HC53 and HC54 models can use USB2.0 and every PC has one of those.

Also, i found that Asda direct are doing the HC53 for £117 + £4.75 delivery which is an absolute steal.
