Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 - AVCHD output to DVD?

I own a Sony HDRCX7 and use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0 to edit the video and create standard DVDs. I would like to be able to ouput the edited video to DVD, but in HD format with menus and such. Sony says this can be done with Movie Studio Platinum 9.0, however, I have seen various posts that say this is not true because Movie Studio uses DVD Architect Studio to produce DVDs and this software does not output HD to DVD.

I would like to be able to burn a DVD with HD output to play in a standard DVD player or a BluRay player when I get one.

The Platinum Pro pack version of SVMS 9 does ( supposedly) " from the timeline".
Probably means they create a folder structure without actually burning the disc
Only the full DVD Architect 4.5/5 seem to for certain
However for those using ver 8
They almost always used Ulead MF 6+ to arthor AVCHD discs

You won't be able to play an AVCHD disc in any DVD player, only a BluRay player, so you would need to create a standard DVD if you don't have a BD player.

I'm looking at trying to find a suitable software to edit my Panasonic SD9 footage onto AVCHD discs with a bit more control than the free software that came with my camcorder. I've already upgraded my PC to 3Ghz Dual Core in readyness.

This is true Standard DVD players dont read any hi def format, The DVD with hi def on it so produced will not be reciognised by your DVD player
The Hi def they talk about is a pesudo hi def upscaling which is not the real deal . They use the HDMI interface as a cheap marketing buzzword
What is also true however is that not all BD players also play AVCHD discs, unless explicitely stated the PS3 is the only one guaranteed to do so

Any of the curent titles will do. Ulead or Corel 11.5/ x2 is very popular . However Pinnacle Studio and lately Adobe Premiere elements 7 , are also similarly capable
Nero vison from Vegas 8 and 9 as well

I already have Pinnacle 10, but I've read about 'issues' with V11 (12?), if they have solved them, then I might relook at it seeing as I'm used to the layout, etc. I did think about splashing out on Vegas, but it seemed it might be more money than I need to spend (£250 or there abouts?).

I can confirm that the Sony BDP-S300 can play AVCHD discs created using the software that came with my SD9. I've just got a Sony BDP-S350 so I'll find my disc and try that too, so I can post back later to confirm incase anyone wants to know.

Re: Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 - AVCHD output to DVD?

Pinaacle 11 was fine with its patch 11.5 but I was aware it coould do HD DVD but not BD as such
Ver 12 I dont have but it seems to be at that worrying teething stage that all versions of Pinnacle Studio seem to Have ( Ie used evry version since 7) but after 10 havent had time as I used to trial all the softeware for usability in the recent past
There is always Ulead/ Corel Video Studio or Adobe Premiere Elements 7 if Sony Vegas is costly
What is a good combo is Sony Vegas MS Platinum + Ulead Movie Factory
as DVD Architect studio doent burn BD or AVCHD
As I said Nero Vision does too even though its actual editing abilitites are a bit lightwieght
