Can someone help please? I can't seem to get my computer to recognise my camcorder to transfer the video on to my PC. I have tried different computers, operating systems, software etc, but nothing. I have scoured the bulletin boards on the internet and it seems this camcorder is particularly prone to the firewire port blowing if you connect it hot to your computer. I'm sure i did this in the past as i'm used to connecting stuff to a PC whilst its on, as you normally have to do this.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had this problem, and i've missed an obvious thing to sort it. If not, has anyone else had their's repaired? just got a quote and they said £220 parts plus £50 labour, all plus VAT!! Might as well get a completely new camera.

I need to get this thing working as i've got loads of tapes full of video to transfer to DVD.

Ifyou are stillhappy with the cam You could pick up a cheap used one just for the transfer perhaps.
