Choice of 2 Sony or Pinnacle

Undecided which one to get as read good (and indifferent) reviews about both.
Have downloaded a trial of Vegas Studio 9 but cannot find a download of an up to date Pinnacle. I see little point in trialing a system that may vary quite a bit from the one I may end up with.
My main use will be editing AVCHD from the PC, after SDHC card contents transferred there, so no real need to have it able to capture from AVCHD source.
Understand latest Pinnacle may be easier to use than Sony but may not be as versatile.
Cheers

Pinnacle studio 12 ultimate will do most things ie edit hdv + avchd make dvds avchds bds and so on BUT lets say if if i could get my hands round throat of the makers producers of this tempermental ----my days of freedom would end.

Pinnacle Studio ( sadly) tend to mellow with age and a few update patches. When it works it is a Joy to use though

Re: Choice of 2 Sony or Pinnacle

So do I read into the above that Sony is the way to go?
