Camcorder and required accessories for £500?

I've been thinking of changing the camcorder for a while now. Its started to play up anyway but its main failings are poor low light abilty and poor angle for what we use it for.

Now with a budget HD camcorder seems possible but again if its poor in low light being a higher res makes little sense. Also if it can't get enough of the scene in again its no better than the currrent camera.

So I've a budget of £500 or more if need be but not loads. I'm thinking use the money to buy a half decent camera and buy a wide angle lens and some sort of light to improve interior shots.

Would this make sense?
