Canon 235 - miniDV tape buzzing sound recorded - normal?

Guys

Been waiting to open my canon 235 for weeks, finally my b`day today! Anyway, I put a tape in and noticed the tape deck makes quite a bit of noise. I expect this when rewinding and such but not when recording!!! I checked it on playback on my TV and sure enough there is a constant background buzzing from the tape deck - is this normal?

I mean it isn`t like a very very loud buzz but it is certainly there and unmissable! I wasn`t expecting it anyway.

i have no personal experience with this model but the noise you describe sounds on the loud side, tape decks do make some noise but not to the extent you describe.
