Help,I only have 5 days to make up my mind

JVC GZ-HD10 or JVC GZ-HD5

I found myself in my local H H Gregg to buy a new camcorder and decided to go Hi Def without speding a ton of money, and I came across a couple of good deals, first the JVC GZ-HD10 for $650.00,secondly the JVC GZ-HD5 for $600.00, now I now the GZ-HD10 isnt full HD andit records in avchd format, the GZ-HD5 records in MPEG2 (ts) and is full HD.Other than that,I am at the mercy of you fine folks,I took the GZ-HD10,but have 5 days to take it back, not really sure why I picked that one other than the GZ-HD5 seemed to be a closeout as it was really marked down alot,so I figured something must be wrong with it.I just dont know enough about HD camcorder specs to make the best judgement, for instance, from what little I do know(very little),it would seem to me that the GZ-HD5 is the better camera,Full HD,Mpeg2,60gb hd,etc.,but its $50.00 less at the same store,so then the GZ-HD10 must be the better of the two. This is what is going on in my head the last few days, Im just not sure, thanks for your help

There's a good chance no one here has any experience with these cameras, hence the lack of responses. You wouldn't want us to comment on things we know nothing about, would you?

For the money you're spending, I'd probably prefer the HF100 over the JVCs, though the JVCs offer better manual control, possibly?

Andrew.

Thanks ..you are welcome
The lack of responses is probably because no body who has looked so far has any experience with them and would rather not make any answers up
JVCs UK marketing seems to be lacklustre. Ive never seen them in any shops myself although they may be available online
The JVCs have always looked very good on paper but in truth it has bee long since they've made a model " to die for" at consumer level
The HD7 would have been a dead cert for a camcorder " Oscar" but its IS was a big let down and it was a marketing flop despite all the promise
Regarding the one you mention
From the Specs . All I can say is that the HD10 costs more because AVCHD is the latest flavour of the month ,
The Mpeg2 1080 60i from the HD5 is similar to HDv from tape . Its downside is size.
Otherwise I dont think the hd10 has a real quality advantage although AVCHD is said to have the potential to look better with higher bitrate encoding ( HDV is fixed at 25mbs)
HDV is far easier to edit without the lastes all singing dancing PC and with the right software can still be tirned into AVCHD if you wish
Both can be played off a PS3
