Displaying DV footage on a PC

Hi all,

I am the Network Manager in a school and one of our users wants to be able to quickly and easily display DV Footage on the projector in their classroom that they have recorded in a lesson. They have no need to capture it and wondered if their was a piece of software (preferably free) that allows the computer to simply pass through what is playing. I know windows has this functionality built in but it is in a small window and I was looking for a similar piece of software which can scale it to full screen.

Any help would be muchos appreciated!

What camera is being used? Most camera's have analogue video out that could just be plugged straight into a projector, using the camera to control the playback...

You dont realy say what format the recordings are but i assume mini dv,The projector surely has video inputs which the camcorder can be connected to,so for what you require no software is needed ,any format ie tapeless will also play from its video outputs.Slimmrock you were not there when i was typing sorry.

Re: Displaying DV footage on a PC

sorry, should have explained better. I was already thinking about going down that route but when we had the projectors installed (ceiling mounted) they did not provide a composite link in the faceplate. As we cannot expect teachers to climb on chairs/ladders every lesson, and I dont much fancy doing another cable run (with more trunking etc.) I was hoping their was a piece of software that a teacher could quickly use.

Re: Displaying DV footage on a PC

I've not done it, but I'm pretty sure that VLC VideoLAN - Free and Open Source software and video streaming solutions for every OS! should be able to do this.

Select Media -> Open capture device...
